Peony In Bloom

The Peony is such an interesting Spring flower. I love it when it's all balled up tight, just getting ready to stretch out it's litte petals and burst out of it's bud. I like to feel the Peonies at this stage because they remind me of tight, little Brussel Sprouts. So cute.

In this picture you can see the flower starting to get bigger and make the bud start to open even more, exposing the beautiful, silky petals underneath. Somehow the petals are allllll tucked away in there just perfectly, waiting to form a perfect flower. Wouldn't it be so neat to see it from the inside and see just how in the heck those petals all fit in there?

Next come the ants. My aunts love Peonies, so why not these ants too? Their tiny little ant feet cause vibrations, like a drum of nature, that help the Peony open up (no, I just made that part up, they just like to weeze the petal juice).

After a few days, the flower *POPS* out of the leafy part, uh....the petal holder......

...and WAH-LA....a beautiful Peony.
