The Lever

While Lia was sick, I was busy learning stuff off of kids TV.  We happened to catch an episode of a children's program.  On the show the little muppet kid was telling his classroom that he made a super toy picker upper that flung toys into his toybox.  The teacher explained that it was a lever, or as the Brits call it, a "leever".  If you're not familiar with the lever, it is a simple machine that involves moving a load around a pivot using a force.

Fast forward to breakfast.  Lia and I are eating french toast.  My fork has a piece of french toast on it, with syrup.  It's laying across the edge of the plate, I'll call that the fulcrum.  Best expained in the diagram below:

Somehow, I managed to hit the end of the fork that was hanging off the edge of the plate, and yep, you guessed it, I made a lever.  Ironic, isn't it?

  1. Kids get to be really good at finding and executing the leever. Especially when you are not expecting it.
