A couple of weeks ago, mom, Lia and I went to Bentonsport, IA.  It's a small town where there really isn't much going on in the summer, it's mostly populated in the Fall with Festivals and Craft Fairs.  Our goal was to go to a little shop called Iron and Lace that sold pottery.

This is looking down the sidewalk. There was an antique shop, and a couple of other small shops.

 Lia was checking things out.

This is what Queen Anne's Lace looks like, and it actually grows in many ditches and fields.
Each piece has its own flower pressed into the clay. In firing, the flower burns away, leaving the unique impression of that blossom. Production is limited to the availability of the flowers.  It's actually a really pretty flower, even though some people consider it a weed.

This is the place where the pottery is sold, and in the back the lady's husband does iron work.
This is what the pottery looks like, it also comes in brown and two shades of blue.

Across from the pottery place was a park, so we took a little stroll.

By this time is was getting hot and humid.  Too humid for me.  So, we headed home to the pool.
Life is good.

    It is beautiful!

I LOVE Iowa! I need to spend more time there! Maybe not tornado season. Or humid season. Or bug season. Or snow season. Okay, I've got it down to nine days in the spring. But, I love Iowa!

  3. It's only about 45 minutes from us. We did buy some. I got a green mug, mom got a blue napkin holder, and we got Amy, my cousin, a blue spoon rest. It really is nice stuff.
